Is Discover Scuba right for you?
This is the gentlest possible introduction to the underwater world. You don't need to be a strong swimmer, you don't need any prior experience, and you don't have to commit to a multi-day course. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to breathe underwater and float weightless above a coral reef — this is your day. We keep ratios tiny (max 2 guests per instructor, often 1:1) so you get unhurried personal coaching from the moment you fit your mask to the moment you surface.

Hotel pickup
Air-conditioned transfer from your hotel to the marina or our Makadi base, included in the price. Meet your instructor on the boat.

Boat departure & briefing
Cruise out to a sheltered, shallow reef while your instructor explains how the equipment works and what the dive will feel like — relaxed and unrushed.

On-board skills session
In waist-deep water off the boat you practise breathing through the regulator, clearing your mask, and using the inflator. Nothing happens until you're comfortable.

Your first dive
Hand in hand with your instructor, you descend slowly along the reef. Expect angelfish, parrotfish, butterflyfish, and the soft Red Sea light. Maximum 12 m, usually around 6–8 m.

Lunch & relax
Surface, swap stories with the crew over a hot lunch and tea, and soak up the sun on the upper deck.

FAQ
Do I need to know how to swim?
You should be comfortable in water and able to float — you do not need to be a competitive swimmer. The whole experience is gradual and supervised.
What if I panic underwater?
Your instructor is right next to you the entire time and you're never more than a few seconds from the surface. If you're not enjoying it, we calmly ascend together. There's zero pressure to push past your comfort.
How deep will we go?
Discover Scuba Diving is limited to 12 metres maximum. In practice we usually stay around 6–8 metres where the reef is most colourful and the light is best.
Can my non-diving partner come on the boat?
Yes — €35 covers their day on board with lunch and drinks, and they can snorkel over the reef while you dive.
Are photos of my dive included?
Yes — your instructor takes souvenir photos and videos during your dive and sends them to you afterwards. Prefer to shoot your own? Rent a private underwater camera for €20/day.
Does this count toward Open Water certification?
Yes. If you decide to continue, we credit your Discover Scuba dive toward your Open Water Diver course.

Abu Hashish Lagoon
A protected sandy lagoon inside the Abu Hashish reef system — flat, calm, and packed with critters. Our favourite spot for buoyancy training and macro photography.
Gota Abu Ramada
Nicknamed 'The Aquarium' for good reason — the densest, most riotous fish life of any easy reef in the Hurghada area. The first dive every visiting photographer asks for.
