First dives & families
Can I try scuba diving without a certification?
Yes. Our beginner experience starts with a briefing and shallow-water practice before guided dives. There are at most two beginners per instructor, often one-to-one. Tell us if you feel nervous so we can discuss the right pace. This experience is not a full diving certification. Full details ↗
Do I need to know how to swim?
Tell us your swimming ability before booking a first dive. Certification requires water skills: PADI Open Water includes a 200 m swim, or 300 m with mask, snorkel and fins, plus 10 minutes floating or treading water. Your instructor confirms the requirements for your chosen programme. Full details ↗
Can children dive, and what is the minimum age?
PADI Bubblemaker starts at age 8; Junior Open Water can start at 10. Age-specific depth and supervision limits apply. Send us your child’s age, swimming confidence and experience so we can confirm a suitable activity; adult limits do not apply to every child. Full details ↗
Do I need a medical form or a doctor’s clearance?
Complete the diving medical questionnaire before entering the water. Depending on your answers, physician approval may be required. Tell the instructor about relevant conditions and medication in advance; the booking team cannot give medical clearance. Full details ↗

How long does Open Water take, and which agency can I choose?
Our Open Water course is planned over three days, with theory, confined-water skills and open-water dives. Completion depends on meeting every requirement, not just attending. I am certified but have not dived for a while. Do I need a refresher?
Tell us your certification, last dive date and experience. A refresher can rebuild confidence with equipment, buoyancy and safety skills before a boat trip. We will discuss an appropriate plan rather than assuming your certification alone means you are ready for every site. Full details ↗
How deep will I dive?
Our basic beginner boat experience is limited to 5 m; the Discover Scuba option has a maximum of 12 m. Certified dives depend on your training, age, experience and conditions. A maximum is a limit, not a target, and children may have stricter limits. Full details ↗
How long must I wait before flying after diving?
For symptom-free recreational air divers, DAN recommends at least 12 hours after one no-decompression dive and 18 hours after multiple dives or multiple diving days. Decompression dives require substantially longer than 18 hours. Longer waits reduce risk but do not eliminate it. Share your flight time, follow any longer computer or instructor interval, and do not fly with suspected decompression symptoms. Full details ↗

Is diving equipment, lunch and insurance included?
The beginner boat experience includes scuba equipment, lunch and drinks, and dive insurance as listed in the offer. Certified day trips include tanks and weights, but full equipment rental costs extra. Check each offer’s inclusions and exclusions; included dive insurance does not replace your own travel cover. How long is the boat day, and can non-divers join?
Allow roughly 6–8 hours for the listed beginner or guided day trips; pickup times and return vary. Non-diver places are available on these trips, subject to space. Can I dive year-round, and what should I wear?
Hurghada offers diving throughout the year, but water temperature, wind and comfort change with the season. Ask us about current conditions and suitable wetsuit thickness for your dates. Bring a warm layer for the boat in cooler months. Weather can change the itinerary. Full details ↗
Which reefs will we visit, and will we see dolphins or sharks?
We select sites for the weather, sea conditions and divers’ levels rather than guaranteeing a particular reef. Tell us your interests when booking.
