Location
Abu Galawa is a quiet, sheltered reef complex in the northern reefs. Its signature is the eel garden on the sandy slope — hundreds of garden eels swaying out of the seabed, retreating as you drift gently overhead. Approach low and slow and you can get surprisingly close. The rest of the site is easy, colourful reef that suits divers of any level.
Site highlights
- Garden of timid sand eels on the slope
- Sheltered, usually current-free
