Good to know

Freediving questions, answered.

What is AIDA, and why does it matter?

AIDA is the original and most recognised freediving agency in the world — the body behind competitive freediving and the standard taught right across the Red Sea and Egypt. An AIDA certification is accepted at freediving centres everywhere.

Do I need any experience to start?

None at all. AIDA 1 is a relaxed one-day taster, and AIDA 2 is a complete beginner course — most students arrive having never held their breath properly before.

Is freediving safe?

Yes, when you follow the rules — and learning those rules is exactly what these courses teach. You always dive with a trained buddy, one person down and one watching, never alone.

Why learn freediving in Hurghada?

Warm 22–28°C water year-round, visibility over 25 m, almost no current and easy access to depth make Hurghada one of the most forgiving and beautiful places on earth to learn.

How is freediving different from scuba?

No tank, no bubbles, no noise — just a single breath. Freediving is quieter, more meditative, and lets you move freely and naturally through the water. Many divers do both.
