What AIDA 3 — Advanced Freediver actually involves
The AIDA 3 Advanced Freediver course takes you from recreational freediver to confident, independent diver. Over three days you'll refine your technique, learn advanced equalisation (the mouthfill), build your breath-hold and depth, and master rescue from depth — certifying you to freedive to 30 metres.
The course where depth opens up
Most freedivers hit a wall around 20 metres — not because of fitness, but because the classic equalisation techniques stop working as the lungs compress. AIDA 3 teaches the mouthfill, the technique that takes freedivers past that wall and into real depth. Combined with proper freefall and relaxation, this is the course that turns a hobby into a sport.
Your schedule
- 1 Day 1
Advanced theory & technique
Deeper physiology — pressure, lung volumes, the freefall and the mammalian dive reflex at depth. Introduction to the mouthfill equalisation technique that unlocks dives beyond 20 m, with dry and shallow practice.
- Advanced physiology
- Mouthfill intro
- Freefall theory
- CO2 / O2 tables
- 2 Day 2
Static, dynamic & depth
Coaching sessions to push static toward 2:45 and dynamic toward 55 m, then line training: refining freefall, equalisation under pressure and relaxation at depth.
- Static 2:45
- Dynamic 55 m
- Freefall practice
- Relaxation at depth
- 3 Day 3
Depth & rescue to 30 m
Constant-weight dives toward 24 m and the certification depth of 30 m, plus the all-important rescue skills: bringing an unconscious freediver up from depth and managing a blackout on the surface.
- Constant weight 24 m+
- Cert depth 30 m
- Rescue from depth
- Final exam

FAQ
What is the mouthfill, and why does it matter?
It's a technique for storing air in your mouth to keep equalising once your lungs are too compressed to push more air up. It's the single biggest unlock for diving beyond 20 m, and AIDA 3 is where you learn it properly.
I'm AIDA 2 but haven't dived much — can I still join?
We recommend around 15 logged sessions first so the AIDA 2 skills are second nature. If you're rusty, we'll add a refresher or training day before the course rather than rush you.
How deep will I go?
The certification is to 30 m, with a minimum constant-weight performance of 24 m to pass. Your instructor builds your depth gradually and safely over the three days.
