Specialties — FAQ
Do I need Advanced Open Water before doing a specialty?
It depends on the specialty. Nitrox requires Open Water only. Deep Diver requires Advanced Open Water. Scooter requires Open Water and solid buoyancy — we'll assess you on dive 1.
Can I do a specialty and fun dives on the same trip?
Yes — and most people do. We can mix specialty dives with guided fun dives across the week. Just let us know your plan when you arrive.
Are the specialty certifications worth it?
Genuinely yes. Nitrox alone changes every future multi-day trip. Deep opens most of the Red Sea's signature sites. DPV lets you explore more reef in a single dive than most divers see in a week.
Can I do two specialties in one trip?
Absolutely. Our most popular combo is Nitrox + Deep — 2.5 days, four dives, two certs. We bundle them at a discount (see below).
Do specialty certs expire?
No. Once certified, you're certified for life. The card is yours to use at any dive operator worldwide.
