The Excalibur
The Excalibur is Hurghada's most accessible wreck — a steel cargo vessel that now rests upright on a flat sandy bottom at 18–22 m, a short swim from the shore. Because she sits at Open Water depth and lies perfectly upright, she's an ideal wreck for divers of all levels: beginners can work the upper deck and superstructure, Advanced divers can drop down to explore the holds and engine room. Years of growth have transformed the hull into an artificial reef. The deck rails are thick with soft coral, the wheelhouse windows frame massive schools of glassfish, and at least three resident lionfish guard the bow. At 22 m the visibility is typically 10–15 m — enough to take in the whole length of the wreck from one end.
